Whenever someone goes to Thailand, the first comment might be, “Oooh, you’re going to love the food!”
(Well, there’s also the shopping spree at the Platinum Mall or Chatuchak).

But what’s the first thing that comes to mind when Thai food comes up?

To many, it’s Phad Thai. To some, it’s Tom Yum Kung.

But to me it’s Khao Niao Mamuang aka Mango Sticky Rice, and I can’t have enough of it. It’s one of my guilty pleasures when I’m in the Bangkok, which is twice a year.

No need to wait for my next trip to Bangkok to satisfy my craving for Mango Sticky Rice

 

Luckilly, I don’t have to wait for the next scheduled trip to have a go at my favorite dessert because Marco Polo flew in a chef from its sister hotel in Hong Kong. The chef, Nontra-Udon Baupha, happens to be Thai, and he’s here to whip up his magic at Cafe Marco’s Thai Food Festival.

Why do I know? I, among many others, got first dibs on the Thai flavors on opening night. Yes, I’m a happy man.
