TWO festive celebrations coming up! The first is the calling for Dragon dancing to welcome the Year of the Monkey while the other one is the candlelight dining to woo the lover.

Chinese New Year & Valentine’s Day coming up!

The longer the dragon dances, more luck pours in, and the more you romance your partner, the better your chances of winning his or her heart.

Café Uno, Waterfront Insular Hotel

A lavish Chinese-inspired dinner buffet will be prepared by Executive Chef Victor D. Barangan and his award-winning team at the Café Uno on February 7, 2016. For Php 888/person, wine and dine on the specially prepared succulent dishes and coupled with a complimentary Mango Sago beverage. The traditional Lion Dance, and other rituals for prosperity, will precede the copious culinary display in the hotel lobby.

Be enchanted by beautiful strings and keys music playing your favorite love songs, and halfway through dessert, Zhalia, a multi-awarded singer of World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA), will serenade you.

Sining Tala Dance Company’s performances will put you in the upbeat mood before you light up the dance floor with your ballroom dancing moves. DJ George Booke will be spinning.

Polo Bistro, Marco Polo Davao

Executive Sous Chef Alex Destriza and his team whip up a special 5-course dinner for Polo Bistro on Valentine’s Day.

Dining starts with the Amuse bouche (Parma Ham with balsamic, melon and micro greens) followed by the Blue Swimmer Crab Salad. Soup is the Wild Mushroom Truffle Cappuccino and the entrée, the Pan-seared Norwegian Salmon Steak. A heart-shaped Strawberry Chilled Cheesecake, mini chocolate truffle and lemon tart ends the meal.

Misto, Seda Abreeza

It’s “Music and Poetry Nights,” a three-day Valentine event at Misto of SedaAbreeza Hotel from February 12 to 14, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. for only P1,580/person.

Sous Chef Giovanna “Bang” Flores and Oliver Evangelista and the team created an exquisite romantic three-course wine pairing served in a vintage romantic setting.

“Music and Poetry Nights” is a 3-day Valentine event at Misto, Seda. In a very romantic, vintage-inspired setting, a 3-course dinner with wine pairing will be served
The course starts with Morchella, Porcini, Fresh mushroom, Truffle Oil, Arugula soup paired with Chardonnay, followed by Mandarin Orange sorbet.
The main course of New Zealand beef tenderloin Braised in Bordeaux Red Wine and Pan-Seared Atlantic Scallops is paired with Merlot. For dessert, it’s Red Velvet White Chocolate Cheesecake and French macaroons paired with South African Sweet Wine.

Performing, a four-string quartet alternating with poetry reading by the Davao Young Writers Guild.
