The cats are roaring

The Lion City sends the Tiger to Davao with roaring deals!

Tiger Airways, the Lion City’s biggest low-cost airlines and recipient to CAPA’s Aviation Awards for Excellence 2010 for Low Cost Airline of the Year, took its initial leap to Durian City.  On November 1, 2011 officially marked Davao as one of the 25 destinations across 12 countries and territories in the Asia-Pacific region since it roared for the first time in 2004.

I hopped in one of these Tigers and was overjoyed with the smooth and comfortable 3 hour & 20 minute ride to Singapore which arrived on time (another impressive quality of this airline- punctuality). Compared to the Singapore trip I made in July, the travel time for this direct trip was less than half. It only means I have more time to enjoy in the Lion City than in airports. Plus, it cut off any additional cost for an overnight stay in Cebu (or Manila), cab fare, terminal fees and food. The money saved meant extra moolah for shopping!

Arriving in the Changi Terminal 3 close to midnight, I was impressed at how bright, clean and cool the budget terminal is. Having been to several budget airlines in Europe, I could say that this terminal is the best  I’ve seen by far.

The Singaporean efficiency did not disappoint (as expected) offering several other options to get to the city with the City Train (free shuttle to take you to the terminal where the city train access is) and Bus having ceased operations for the day.

At midnight, there is the taxi which could cost from SG&18 to SG$38, the Limousine Taxi with a flat rate of SG$45 or the Airport Shuttle which costs SG$9 and drops you in front of your hotel. I took the last option, it’s cheapest and I haven’t tried that ride. What’s yours?

The meeting hall. It has what you need- tourist information, limousine and coach rides booking counter and even Singapore telco prepaid SIM cards.

My 10-seater coach ride to my hotel.

It took around 30 minutes to the lobby of my home for this trip- The Fairmont and Swissotel Stamford at the Raffles City.

Arrive cheap. Live chic.
Time: 12:30AM. Guess who welcomed me to the chic Fairmont Hotel and showed me to my room with a magnificent iconic view of the harbor in all its shining, shimmering splendor?
Googie of Kamagoo, Davao and Veron Orosa,  Regional Director of Revenue & Distribution ASPAC Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts (You guys are great to have stayed up past midnight to welcome me warmly to Singapore! Nothing can top that.)

And thanks to Tiger Airways, I made it to Singapore safely and on time, and I was off to another exciting adventure around the city once more.
